Date Ranges and Settings

Metorik’s Date Settings allow you to control how data is filtered and reported based on dates relevant to your store and financial calendar. You can customize these settings to match your store’s reporting requirements, ensuring accurate insights across all dashboards and reports.

Below is a guide to understanding and configuring each part of the Date Settings page.

Date Settings

Filter orders by Created, Paid, or Completed date:

This setting lets you choose which date to use when filtering orders in your reports.

By default, Metorik uses the Created Date (the date the order was placed). This is generally recommended for accuracy, but you can adjust it to fit your store’s reporting needs.

Filter customers by First Ordered, or Joined date:

Choose between filtering customers by their First Ordered date (when they made their first successful order) or their Join Date (when they first appeared in your customer database). Keeping this set to First Ordered is ideal for tracking customer acquisition accurately.

Store & Financial Date Settings

Store Start Date – This date marks when your store first launched or recorded its first order. It serves as a reference point for some historical reports and custom date ranges, helping you track your store’s progress over time.

Financial Year Start Date – Set the starting date of your financial year here, which is used to define “Last Year” and “Year to Date” ranges in Metorik reports. This ensures your reports align with your fiscal calendar.

Financial Month Start Day – Choose which day marks the start of each financial month. This impacts the date ranges for “Last Month” and “This Month” in your reports, making sure monthly data reflects your specific reporting periods.

Financial Week Start Day – Select the day that begins your financial week, such as Monday or Sunday. This affects weekly reporting in Metorik, so that “Last Week” and “This Week” segments align with your business’s weekly cycle.

Default Date Ranges

Metorik provides a range of default date options to help you easily filter data based on popular time periods. Some of these come pre-selected "out of the box" but you can disable or enable the right ones for your store by clicking on them.

Most Popular – This section includes essentials like Today, Yesterday, This Week, This Month, Year to Date, and All Time. These are perfect for a quick snapshot of recent activity or the entire history of your store.

Day Ranges – Need a shorter-term view? The Days section offers ranges like Last 7 Days, Last 14 Days, and Last 30 Days. These are ideal for tracking recent changes or short-term trends.

Month Ranges – For a broader perspective, the Months section includes Last 3 Months, Last 6 Months, and Last 12 Months. These options are great for quarterly or annual performance analysis.

Other Ranges – The Other ranges, such as Last Quarter and This Calendar Year, help align reports with your fiscal periods, making them ideal for strategic reviews and planning.

Custom Date Ranges

Metorik's Custom Date Range feature allows you to create specific time frames tailored to your business’s needs, such as fiscal quarters, holiday seasons, or promotional periods. Here’s how to make the most of this feature.

Adding a New Range

To create a custom date range, click on Add new range. You’ll be prompted to choose a name, select the type (Fixed or Recurring – more on that below), and set the start and end dates. Once done, click Save changes to add the new range to your list.

Fixed Ranges

Fixed ranges are ideal for one-time events or specific date ranges that won’t repeat each year. For instance, you might use a fixed range for Black Friday/Cyber Monday in 2024, spanning from November 29 to December 2. Select Fixed under type, and set your desired start and end dates.

Recurring Ranges

Recurring ranges repeat every year, making them perfect for annual events like fiscal quarters, holidays, or key sales periods. For example, if you want to track Valentine’s Day, set it as a recurring range with a start and end date of February 14. Choose Recurring under type, then set your start and end dates.

How to Reorder

You can reorder your custom date ranges by dragging and dropping them. Just click on the handle (three vertical dots) next to the range name, then drag it up or down to change its position. This is especially useful for keeping your most-used ranges at the top for quick access.

Removing a Range

To delete a range, simply click on the trash bin icon next to the range you want to remove. Be sure to click Save changes after deleting to update your list.
