Why aren't my subscriptions being updated in Metorik

If you're encountering an issue where changes you make to subscriptions in WooCommerce aren't being synced over to Metorik, this is likely due to how the updates are being made.

The issue when removing a line item:

When removing a line-item from a subscription, you can simply click the red ❌ to delete the item.

This does appear to have removed the item, and technically it has as you can refresh the page and it's gone, however it only fully updates the subscription once you click the "Recalculate" button.

This button does as it says, and then updates the "last modified date" of the subscription, which tells Metorik (and any other plugins/services) that there has been changes made, and the data needs to be re-synced.

The issue when editing line items:

More commonly the issue occurs when you're modifying a line item's quantity, or adding a new line item to the existing subscription. After you've made your changes, you intuitively click the "Save" button.

However this doesn't actually update the subscription. Think of it more of a "finish making changes" button, rather than a "Save and update the subscription" button.

To properly update the subscription, you'll again need to click the "Recalculate" button, which then updates the "last modified date" so services know there are updates to sync.

TLDR

After making any changes to an existing subscription in WooCommerce, always make sure to hit the "Recalculate" button so Metorik gets notified to resync the data.
