Engage is not currently intended for sending "bulk emails" to large numbers of customers at once. There are several reasons why mentioned in the Sending Limits help document, but it comes down to the fact that Engage is more suited for sending transactional and unique emails one at a time.
What are bulk emails?
Bulk email has the same content that is sent to a list of subscribers all at once. There is no action from the recipient that triggers these messages to be sent. Bulk email includes:
- Marketing emails
What are Transactional emails?
Transactional email is your one to one unique communications sent from your app when triggered by a user action. Metorik Engage is only to be used for transactional emails. These include things like:
- Welcome emails
- Order confirmations
- Subscription renewal reminders
- Customer recovery emails
- Emails to customers based on their purchases (eg. a VIP or loyalty reward coupon)

We do plan to offer more specific bulk emailing at some point in the future, but at the moment we need to wait for our email provider to allow it, and then can look at improving bulk emailing in Engage.
