Exports

Make automatic backups of your store's data

Setting up automatic backups ensures you always have a recent copy of your store's data delivered straight to your inbox. Metorik's recurring export feature makes this easy — configure it once and receive regular CSV exports of your orders, customers, products, and more.

What you can back up

Metorik can automatically export all of your store's main data types:

  • Orders — transaction details, line items, totals

  • Customers — contact info, lifetime value, order history

  • Products — inventory, pricing, variants

  • Refunds — refund amounts, reasons, dates

  • Coupons — usage counts, discount amounts

  • Subscriptions — if your store uses WooCommerce Subscriptions

Each data type can be backed up with its own schedule and sent to different email addresses.

Set up automatic backups

1

Go to the data you want to back up

Navigate to the page for the data type you want to export — Orders, Customers, Products, Refunds, Coupons, or Subscriptions. Each resource has its own export settings.

If you only want to back up a subset of your data, use the segmenting tool to filter first. For example, you could back up only orders from the past month or only customers with a high lifetime value.

2

Open the export settings

Click the blue Export button on the resource page. The export drawer will open, showing your export options.

3

Choose what to include

Under All Settings, you can customize your backup:

  • Custom fields — Add any custom fields your store uses (meta data in WooCommerce, additional details in Shopify).

  • Export columns — By default, all main fields are included. Turn on column customization to export only the columns you need, making smaller and more focused backup files.

For Orders, Refunds, and Subscriptions, you'll also see an option to export one row per line item. By default, each order appears on one row with items listed together. Enable this to separate each line item into its own row.

4

Set up the recurring schedule

In the export drawer, select Recurring Export. Configure your backup schedule:

  • Frequency — Choose Daily, Weekly, or Monthly depending on how often your data changes and how current you need your backups.

  • Recipients — Enter email addresses for everyone who should receive the backup. Hit Enter after each address to add multiple recipients.

  • Title — Give your backup a descriptive name so you can easily identify it later.

For detailed options including Slack delivery and webhook integrations, see the full Exporting Data guide.

5

Save and activate

Click Save to create your recurring export. Your backup is now active and will arrive automatically at the schedule you set.

You can view and manage all your scheduled backups from the Exports page in Metorik — pause, edit, or delete them anytime.

Tips for effective backups

  • Use date filters for incremental backups — Rather than exporting your entire order history every week, set a filter like "Orders Created: in the past 1 week" and pair it with a weekly schedule. Each backup will contain only new orders.

  • Separate schedules for different data — You might back up orders daily but products weekly. Create separate recurring exports for each with appropriate frequencies.

  • Include a summary — When setting up your recurring export, you can opt to include totals in the email body. This gives you a quick overview without opening the CSV.

  • Large exports — If your CSV file exceeds 8MB, it will be attached as a download link rather than a direct attachment. This keeps your backups reliable even for large stores.

Manage your scheduled backups

All your recurring exports appear on the Exports page. From there you can:

  • Edit — Change filters, columns, frequency, or recipients

  • Pause / Activate — Temporarily stop a backup or restart it

  • Run now — Trigger an immediate export outside the schedule

  • Delete — Remove a backup you no longer need
