Finding products that are frequently purchased together

Understanding which products your customers frequently buy together helps you create better product bundles, optimize cross-sell recommendations, and improve your store's merchandising strategy. Metorik's Products Bought Together report shows you exactly which product combinations appear most often in your orders.

Go to the Product Sales area in Metorik. You'll find the Products frequently bought together section displaying your top product pairs.

Review the product pairs and frequency

The report displays a table showing:

  • Product pairs: The two products most commonly purchased together

  • Frequency count: The number of times these products appeared in the same order (shown on the right-hand side)

Products are sorted with the most frequently bought combinations at the top, making it easy to identify your strongest cross-sell opportunities.

Filter your results

Customize the report to match your analysis needs:

  • Date range: Use the date picker in the top right corner to analyze specific time periods

  • Free products: By default, free products are excluded from the report. You can include them if needed using the toggle option

View the underlying orders

Click View Orders to see all orders containing a specific product pair. This helps you understand the context of these purchases and identify patterns in customer behavior.

Check individual product data

You can also see frequently purchased together data on individual product pages. Navigate to any product to see what other products customers commonly buy with it.

Bundled products: If you sell bundled products, the 'children items' are automatically excluded from this report, ensuring you see meaningful product pair data rather than parent-child bundle relationships.

Using this data for your store

The Products Bought Together report helps you:

  • Create product bundles: Package frequently paired products together at a slight discount to increase average order value

  • Optimize cross-sell recommendations: Show relevant product suggestions on product pages or in cart upsells

  • Improve merchandising: Place complementary products near each other in your store layout or email campaigns

  • Plan promotions: Run targeted discounts on product pairs that customers already gravitate toward
